Yes. Uploading a photo, creating an account, or purchasing credits means you have read and agreed to these terms.

Are Face Search credits a subscription?

No. Every credit package is a one-time purchase. There is no recurring billing and nothing to cancel - you buy a set number of credits and use them whenever you like, since credits never expire.

What happens if I misuse the service?

We may suspend or terminate your account without a refund of unused credits if we determine, in our reasonable judgment, that you have used Face Search to harass, stalk, or endanger someone, or otherwise violated the acceptable use section below.

Can I rely on a search result as proof of someone’s identity?

No. Results are informational leads, not verified identity confirmation. Always corroborate a match through other means before acting on it.

Terms of Service & Acceptable Use

These terms are written to be genuinely readable rather than dense legalese, but they are still a binding agreement. This page is general information about our service, not legal advice for your situation.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By visiting Face Search, creating an account, uploading a photo, or purchasing credits, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What the service does

Face Search lets you upload a photo and search for visually similar faces that appear in publicly accessible sources on the web. Low-fidelity, lower-confidence searches run on our own infrastructure at no cost. Full, credit-based searches are powered by our third-party search processor, FaceCheck.id, which performs the underlying index lookup against public images and returns candidate matches to us for display. We do not operate a private, government, or leaked-data database, and results are limited to what a public-image index can find.

Search results are provided “as is” and are probabilistic leads, not verified identifications. A search may return no results - including for AI-generated or synthetic faces that don’t correspond to a real public identity - and that is expected behavior, not a service failure.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or purchase credits. By using the service you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are not barred from using the service under the laws of your jurisdiction.

4. Accounts and credits

Accounts are tied to an email address; we don’t require any other identifying information to sign up. Credits are sold in fixed one-time packages - there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews. Credits never expire once purchased, and each completed, credit-based search consumes one credit. You are responsible for keeping access to the email address associated with your account, since that email is how we authenticate you and issue support or refunds.

5. Payments

All purchases are processed securely by Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars unless stated otherwise and may include taxes required by your jurisdiction. By providing payment details you authorize us (via Stripe) to charge the applicable amount for the package you select. We do not store your full card details - see our Privacy Policy for details on payment data handling.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Face Search to:

Harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or surveil another person without a legitimate basis.
Monitor a partner, ex-partner, or family member covertly in a way that amounts to surveillance.
Identify or attempt to locate a minor.
Build dossiers on individuals for doxxing, harassment, or intimidation.
Violate any applicable law, including data protection, stalking, or harassment statutes in your jurisdiction.
Attempt to circumvent credit limits, rate limits, or security controls, or to scrape or resell search results at scale.

7. Third-party content and links

Search results link to content hosted on third-party websites we do not control or operate. We are not responsible for the accuracy, legality, or availability of third-party content, and linking to a page does not imply endorsement of it.

8. Refunds

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on credit purchases as described in our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these terms.

9. Intellectual property

The Face Search name, logo, website design, and underlying software are our property or licensed to us and may not be copied, reverse-engineered, or reused without permission. You retain ownership of any photo you upload; you grant us only the limited right to process it for the purpose of running the search you requested.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe an account has violated these terms - in particular the acceptable use section above - or is being used to harm another person. Unused credits on a terminated account are not guaranteed to be refunded where termination results from a terms violation.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Face Search disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that searches will find a match, that results will be accurate or complete, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Face Search and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including decisions made based on search results. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Face Search harmless from any claim or demand, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms or applicable law.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are intended to be interpreted reasonably and in good faith. If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us first at team@facesearch.id so we can try to resolve it informally before any formal proceeding. This section does not limit any statutory rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service or applicable law. We will update the “last reviewed” date at the top of this page when we do. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the revised terms.
